Even when “new Everton” sell a player, it’s exciting. Unless you have been living under a rock for the last 24 hours, you know that Romelu Lukaku is on the precipice of leaving the Toffees and joining up with Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United for an astronomical transfer fee.

That means it’s put up or shut up time for the Everton decision makers. Are they buyers or sellers? They have come close to spending the Lukaku transfer fee already. Will they continue to spend? Or is a balanced summer budget the number one priority?
