Ronald Koeman willing to wait to bring Michael Keane to Everton

Everton manager Ronald Koeman is prepared to wait until he has secured other targets before making a move for Michael Keane, according to the Mirror.

The Burnley defender looked set to return to Old Trafford this summer, with Manchester United having put him on their wish list.

However, Jose Mourinho instead decided to sign defender Victor Lindelof in a £30.8 million deal from Benfica, ruling out a move for Keane as a result.

That has left Everton at the front of the queue for his signature after Liverpool did not follow up their initial interest, presumably amid the furore surrounding the tapping up of Virgil van Dijk.

However, the Blues are yet to make a firm offer for him and that has left Keane in an increasing sense of limbo regarding his future.

That is only likely to increase in the coming weeks as Ronald Koeman is willing to wait until he has secured other targets this summer before moving to bring the England international to Goodison Park.

Should he make a move, it is likely to cost at least £25 million, with Burnley holding out for that fee for one of their prize assets.

Keane only has a year left of his current deal but the Clarets are willing to lose him on a free next summer rather than get a fee this year as they feel the money earned from him helping them stay up this year would far outweigh his value.
