Lookman trying to win over Allardyce

After ending Everton’s miserable Europa League campaign on a high with a brace, Ademola Lookman is ready to make an impression during the Merseyside Derby tomorrow.

Lookman scored twice and could have had more as the Blues won 3-0 at Apollon Limassol on Thursday, and is looking to convince Sam Allardyce that he is deserving of a starting spot at Anfield too.

Speaking to ESPN FC, Lookman struck a confident note -

"I believe in my ability; I know what I can do.

"It's always good to play and enjoy your football and I did that on Thursday, hopefully it showed.

"[The Liverpool game] is out of my control. I can only do what I do on the football pitch. Once I get my opportunity I will take it.''

Two of his colleagues who lifted the Under-20 World Cup earlier this summer have received call-ups to the England senior team. Lewis Cook and Dominic Solanke’s experiences with the Three Lions is motivating for Lookman.

"I have played with them for a couple of years and to see them doing that is nice; they deserve it.

"I don't see why I can't follow in their footsteps. It is a big club, Everton, and I am still learning, still young. With time I think everything will come.''

Lookman provides the side with an injection of pace, something the Blues could seriously require to break the Liverpool high press on Sunday.
