Upon taking up the Everton job, one of the first things Sam Allardyce said was that he wanted to strengthen the spine of the squad in the upcoming transfer window. Now the Mirror are reporting that they have identified who Big Sam will be looking at.

Midfielder Steven N’Zonzi has been unsettled at Sevilla, and has even been dropped from the squad by head coach Eduardo Berizzo. Per the Daily Mail, the Frenchman has been training on his own and was dropped from the squads against Villarreal and Cartagena, this followed a disagreement when N’Zonzi was substituted in a Champions League fixture against Liverpool.

Allardyce managed the midfielder at Blackburn, signing him in 2009 and even trying to get him to change nationality to English during his short tenure as the Three Lions manager.

Big Sam is also reported to be a fan of Watford FC’s tough forward Troy Deeney. Everton have been previously linked with the striker last January and during the summer as well as the Blues attempted to replace Romelu Lukaku.

Additionally, the article goes on to say that Allardyce is interested in West Bromwich Albion’s Jonny Evans as well as Crystal Palace left back Patrick van Aanholt.
