Fans of losing team lash out. Where have we seen this before?

Everton and West Ham United are two clubs who have done better in recent seasons but have hit a deep rut this year and firing their respective managers. The clash between the two teams on Wednesday had a lot riding on it - a win for the Hammers would have gotten them climbing out of the relegation zone while simultaneously pushing the Blues down behind them.

However, an incredible Wayne Rooney hattrick topped off by a stunner from the veteran forward got the Blues all three points, and managed to enrage the Hammers fanbase as well.

Hammers midfielder Moses Makasi hasn’t played for the senior side yet, but has impressed in defensive midfield for the Under-23s.

Makasi enraged West Ham fans by commenting on his Instagram story ‘Wayne Rooney what a player’ after Rooney had scored from his half of the pitch. However, he was soon deluged with abuse from fans who were in no mood for platitudes or to appreciate Rooney’s talent.

We’ll skip the abusive tweets for the sake of decency, but seriously though, let the man be. He’s just enjoying a great piece of skill, and the fans who lashed out at him are likely just a minority.

The pressure is rising at the Hammers after the loss and further results now see them in 19th place with a terrifying game away at runaway league leaders Manchester City tomorrow.
