Final Verdict

Sam Allardyce in his first game in charge named a completely unchanged lineup from Wednesday. The visitors controlled most of the possession in the first half as Everton were happy to sit back and hold their defensive shape. When attacking the Blues looked more fluent and threatened a few times.

Soon after the break, the Blues took the lead after a neat little move started by Aaron Lennon, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s nifty backheel finding Gylfi Sigurdsson to finish tidily at the far post.

The Terriers were forced to push up after that goal, and it soon created the Toffees’ second. A through ball to DCL from sub Ademola Lookman found him some space on the left, and his deflected shot bounced over the keeper and in.
