Allardyce: I’ve simplified the game for Everton

Everton won again today taking their unbeaten streak since ‘King Midas’ Sam Allardyce was hired to six games with five wins and an away Derby draw. The Blues sit in ninth place in the Premier League table, one point off Leicester City in eighth who also sacked their manager earlier this season and have had much better luck with Claude Puel.

Speaking after the 3-1 win over Swansea City to BBC Radio 5 Live, Allardyce said -

"From a tactical point of view, I've simplified the game. And I'm man managing the players. I brought some experienced and talented staff with me, along with the rest of the staff - I want everyone to get better. To turn around so quickly is great credit to everyone. Not just me.

"What looked like a desperate situation is becoming a comfortable one. And now people are looking up the table than down. The last clubs I took over were tougher to turn around initially.”

This coming weekend will present a different challenge after Allardyce has run the gauntlet of weaker teams with an almost 100% record (bar Klopp’s whiny Reds), with defending champions Chelsea coming to town.

"We've got to try to get a result against Chelsea and then we'll really know what we're made of. With this confidence if we can get a result there, we're on the right track for finishing as high as we can. Let's see if the lads can pull one out of the bag."

Allardyce hasn’t necessarily made radical changes to the lineups, but what he has done is instill a level of belief in this squad that we haven’t seen before, and that was severely lacking early on this season.
