Final Verdict

As expected, the Blues were overwhelmed by their hosts’ superior attacking power, despite some questionable choices made by Jurgen Klopp, opting to rest some in-form players. It didn’t matter though, as the Reds controlled play and unsurprisingly went into the lead just before the break through who else but Mohamed Salah.

The Blues switched to a 4-2-3-1 in the second half with little change, but ended stronger and it was down to Wayne Rooney to score the penalty from a boneheaded challenge by Dejan Lovren, shoving Dominic Calvert-Lewin down while running away from goal.
