Despite concerns about the weather in the northwest, for now it appears that both derbies scheduled for today are going on. The Merseyside Derby is scheduled up first with Everton away at Liverpool, and followed soon after by the Manchester Derby featuring league leaders Manchester City against Manchester United.
Liverpool football club and Merseyside Police met this morning and the derby against Everton is planned to go ahead as normal.

Weather forecasts for the area appeared to say that there would be periods of heavy snow, but it appears the worst of it has been mostly in the Midlands, and it is snowing in London as well at the moment.
There does appear to a rain-snow mix going on in the Merseyside area, and fans of all sides traveling to the games have been asked to plan on additional time to get to the stadiums with traffic snarl-ups slowing down road and rail.

The anticipation is not quite so eager for Everton fans who have seen team after team fall flat at Anfield in recent years, and with the way the current season has started there’s little hope of bucking that trend. However, this will be Sam Allardyce’s first Merseyside Derby and if the players can just put in a solid shift together as a team, that would be a start.
