The David Moyes question

David Moyes has now explicitly said that he would be interested in a return to Goodison Park. Frankly, at this point in the Everton season, a return to hard working Moyes-ball doesn’t sound so bad. Here’s what the former Toffee and Manchester United boss had to say:

The trouble (because, this season, there’s always trouble attached to anything positive) is that last part, and an ESPNFC report seems to indicate what he’s talking about. The plan seems to be to replace Slaven Bilic at West Ham United with Moyes as soon as possible, and after watching how the Hammers performed against Liverpool today, it seems as though they need the help just as bad as we do.

I’m sure there will be facets of the fanbase who will deride the manager who has faced such hard luck since leaving our side of Stanley Park. But honestly, he’s about as good a manager as a relegation zone team should really expect. We need to do something, and it’ll be a real shame if we are beat to this one.

At this point, I’m really not sure what we’re going to do. The rumors about Sean Dyche heated up towards the end of October but have gone silent the last few days. Maybe we’ll hear more when this week’s cycle of games are completed, but otherwise there are not many strong links and David Unsworth is in over his head.

I still can’t really wrap my head around how we look like a bona fide relegation candidate despite the squad we have on paper. I think the talent (especially the young talent) on Everton is a lot better than this, all we need is the right guy to make it all work.
