Everton have had no contact with veteran Champions League winning manager

There has been a new name associated with the vacant permanent manager position at Everton this week, and it’s none other than former Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal.

The tabloids have been rife with chatter that the 66-year-old is ready to return to the game following his sabbatical away, and that the Blues were interested in speaking with the manager. van Gaal has been out of work since being sacked by United at the end of the 2015-16 season, two days after he lifted the FA Cup, his sole trophy with the Red Devils.

The Daily Mail reports though that they have spoken with the Dutchman and he has not had any contact with the Toffees.

“I've not yet been asked.”

van Gaal has returned to the North West twice in recent weeks for work as a Champions League analyst for Dutch television, fueling speculation that he could be talking to Everton but now that appears to be debunked.

David Unsworth continues as interim manager for now with no official word from the club on who the next manager will be. Marco Silva has been widely tipped to take over but his current club Watford FC are adamant that he won’t be leaving.
