Everton have announced that under-fire manager Ronald Koeman has left the club. In a statement released via social media just minutes ago, the Toffees announced that the Dutchman was no longer manager, but did not clarify whether he was being sacked or this was by mutual decision.

The text reads -

Everton Football Club can confirm that Ronald Koeman has left the club.

Chairman Bill Kenwright, the Board of Directors and major shareholder Farhad Moshiri would all like to express their gratitude to Ronald for the service he has given to the club over the past 16 months, and for guiding the club to seventh place in last season’s Premier League campaign.

Yet another humiliating loss yesterday looked to be the final nail in Koeman’s coffin, with the abject defeat coming in front of Moshiri and Kenwright at Goodison Park yesterday.

There are plenty of names already linked with the no-vacant Everton position, but it is very likely that David Unsworth could step in for now in an interim role like he previously did when Roberto Martinez was also sacked not so long ago.

UPDATE: It appears that Koeman had showed up to work this morning as usual, but it was Farhad Moshiri who made the decision to let him go, and the message was delivered by Bill Kenwright and Robert Elstone at around lunchtime.
