Danny Rose could be fit for January 31 match against Manchester United

It means more miles on the tires for Ben Davies, but the news isn’t as bad as was feared.

Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton - Premier League

Tottenham Hotspur left back Danny Rose only just got healthy after missing the bulk of last season with a knee injury until he tweaked that same knee again recently. The good news is that while he’s set to miss the next two weeks worth of Spurs games, the latest projections suggest he’s targeted a return by the home match against Manchester United on January 31.

According to the Standard, Spurs physios were concerned that he had seriously re-injured his knee during the Southampton match a couple weeks back. Now, it seems the injury isn’t as bad as what it looked at first.

It does mean that Rose is set to miss the upcoming games against Everton, the return fixture at Southampton, and the FA Cup fourth round game at Newport County. One assumes that Ben Davies will start both of the league games, with Kyle Walker-Peters filling in vs. Newport.

Spurs have a brutal stretch coming up in February, with games against United on Jan. 31, at Liverpool on Feb. 4, a North London Derby at Wembley on Feb. 10, and the first Champions League leg at Juventus on February 13. Having Danny back for that stretch is super important and will help make sure that Davies’ legs don’t fall off before the end of the month.
