Arsenal make their move.

Yesterday Arsenal confirmed a deal that will have the club pay a club-record €53m transfer fee to sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette. On the one hand, this is a good move for them. The underlying stats for Lacazette are strong. He’ll be an upgrade on Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck, and Theo Walcott. On the other hand, if he is their Alexis replacement it’s hard to see how this makes Arsenal better. Of course, since Arsenal are in the Europa League next season it may be hard for them to attract that sort of talent to the red half of North London. (Yes, I laughed at every word as I typed that last sentence.)

In other news:

Juve appear to have worked out personal terms with Fiorentina attacker Federico Bernardeschi. But Fiorentina is demanding far more than Juve is wanting to pay.

Kevin and Conor Dowley have ideas on where Giroud may be headed.
