Against all odds, Tottenham Hotspur are the only remaining undefeated team in Champions League Group H. Thanks to an impressive 3-1 home win over Real Madrid a few weeks ago, Spurs have already achieved progression to the knock-out stages and now have the golden opportunity to clinch the top spot in their group, if they can defeat Dortmund at the Signal Iduna stadium in Germany.

A group-clinching win can cure a bunch of ills.

Did we ever in our wildest dreams think we’d be in this situation right now? Tottenham Hotspur have picked up four points off of Real Madrid and are undefeated after four Champions League group stage matches. Now they can clinch the group with a win either tonight at Dortmund, or in their last match, at home against APOEL.

But wouldn’t it be nice if they could do it tonight? Dortmund are struggling this season, both in Europe and the Bundesliga. Their only points in the Champions League come from twin 1-1 draws against APOEL, and there is increasing discontent about the performance of manager Peter Bosz.

But that’s not to say that Dortmund are without weapons. Christian Pulisic is one of the brightest young stars in football. (Also, did you know he’s American?) And this time, Dortmund are set to welcome Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back from injury for tonight’s match. Dortmund are a solid team — as Spurs fans we felt like the 3-1 win was huge at the time. Now they’re in the Westfalenstadion, the Yellow Wall, and the incredible support.

Spurs don’t NEED a win today, but after their heroics in this group, it would almost feel like a disappointment if they don’t get some kind of result. Also, coming on the heels of the bitter loss to Arsenal in the North London Derby, a losing streak is not something they’d like to take back for this weekend’s match against now-manager-less West Brom.

COYS!
