Manchester City reportedly interested in Borussia Dortmund sensation Ousmane Dembélé

Could City make a move for the French phenom since Arsenal are playing hardball over Alexis Sanchez?

Le10Sport dropped a bombshell recently claiming French forward Ousmane Dembélé was in Manchester meeting with Pep Guardiola with an eye towards working with the Catalan next season. It seems after the dust settled Dembélé was actually not in Manchester, though it seems Guardiola and City are really entertaining the idea of signing the youngster.

The great Sam Lee from Goal claims Dembélé is on Manchester City and Guardiola’s radar, but not an immediate target. It seems the club still prefer Alexis Sánchez, with the Chilean more likely to leave his club this summer than the French youngster. City aren't the only top club interested in Dembélé’s services either.

Barcelona have also reached out to Borussia Dortmund about the young Frenchman, but have found out that the club wants €85 million for Dembélé. The only reason many believe Ousmane may move is because he was reportedly upset when the club sacked manager Thomas Tuchel, who helped Dembélé flourish last year with 8 goals and 18 assists in both Bundesliga and Champions League play.

Realistically it seems unlikely Dembélé will move to the Etihad this summer as City are confident in landing their number one choice in Alexis Sánchez. If the French forward remains at Dortmund and isn't impressed by new manager Peter Bosz, then perhaps Pep can make a move next summer. Until then City supporters can enjoy the young trio of forwards City already boast in Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sané and Gabriel Jesus.
