Manchester City will not sign Alexis Sánchez... Or will they?

Arsenal are being stubborn!

Recently, word got out that Alexis Sanchez was just “days away” from being a Manchester City player, according to journalist Gerard Romero. Then Spanish news source Marca stated that this is completely false. Arsenal are understandably very much against the idea of allowing the Chilean move to a Premier League rival.

Pep Guardiola has made it clear that he believes his squad’s biggest weakness is their lack of goals. Alexis would certainly help to diminish the amount of chances missed, resulting in a stronger title challenge.

City have been confident of striking a deal for the Chilean, and Alexis and his agent are highly interested in the move to the Etihad. However, Arsenal prefer to sell to Bundesliga superpower Bayern Munich.

To be fair, Sanchez leaving Arsenal for the Sky Blues would result in a major backlash from the Gunners’ supporters. Many of them are already unhappy with Arsene Wenger being given a two-year contract extension, and Alexis’ exit would only add fuel to the fire. For this reason, winning the 28-year-old’s signature will be very difficult for City.

Should Arsenal find a replacement for their best player, this deal will go through much more smoothly, but as of now it is looking like City supporters might have to wait until Alexis’ contract runs out next year to see him playing under Guardiola again.
