In what promised to be a very tough match before kick-off, Manchester City made things very easy for themselves and completely dominated Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on their way to a 4-0 victory. David Silva was the star of the show but the entire team was brilliant on the night, and City have now won 15 consecutive Premier League matches.

FIRST HALF

We saw a very dominant display from the Blues in the first 45 minutes. Despite the changes and a different attacking setup with Kevin De Bruyne on the wing, City managed to dominate possession and completely shut down any counter-attacking attempts from Swansea. On the ball, City were creative and hard-working, constantly coming up with chances thanks to accurate passing and smart movement.

David Silva and Bernardo Silva were especially brilliant in the attack, and the two combined for City’s first goal, which was assisted by Bernardo and scored by David. City would double their lead with a free kick from Kevin De Bruyne that went straight into the net.

At halftime, the Blues were cruising to victory but needed another goal to guarantee the win in the second half.

SECOND HALF

Paul Clement tried to give Swansea more firepower up front with Tammy Abraham alongside Wilfried Bony, but to do that he took off a midfielder in Tom Carroll, and that proved to be a poor decision. The Blues, who were already dominating the midfield, took complete control of it and began to find spaces inside the Swansea defense with tremendous ease.

David Silva missed a golden chance in the first minute of the second half, but it wouldn’t take long for the Bald Magician to redeem himself and make it 3-0 after a beautiful piece of passing play from the team. With the win more than guaranteed, Pep Guardiola began to make substitutions to rest a few key players for Saturday’s match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Swansea gave up on the game way too early, which made things perfect for City. With no need to waste energy ahead of such a big game at the weekend, the Blues simply passed the ball and avoided any silly mistakes at the back until the final whistle came, but Sergio Agüero still got his goal to make it 4-0 for the Blues.

It’s now 15 straight wins for Manchester City, the longest winning streak in the history of English top flight. This team is truly special, and they proved tonight that they will take every game seriously.
