Arsenal made it through to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup with a hard-fought victory 1-0 victory at home to West Ham United tonight, with Danny Welbeck’s goal making the difference, and there was, as expected, a strong U23 presence in the squad.

Midfielder Joe Willock started the game and, while he still has some developing to do, the Hale End product provided an indication of his potential as he played some neat passes and made one impressive burst forwards.

Ben Sheaf made his home debut as a substitute against his former club, while Reiss Nelson and Josh Dasilva also featured in the second half, with the latter pair having been involved in all three of the club’s games in this competition this season.

Matt Macey and Eddie Nketiah were unused substitutes, as were first-team squad members Chuba Akpom and Jeff Reine-Adelaide.

As far as first-team players are concerned, defender Calum Chambers was very impressive, while Mohamed Elneny was composed in possession.
