Do you think the ending of the “emergency window” is one of the reasons for this? Teams have to act earlier, then get players they don’t really need. In the old days managers could assess their squads then take players they need – or react to injuries.
I think the 1st team is a little short at left back (wing back) as AMN has to play there in Europa League matches – he is quite serviceable there but I don’t think it is his best position. Not sure if there are any up and coming prospects for this position from the youth teams. I know Bramall is out on loan but I think the jury is still out as to whether he is the answer (not getting a game at Birmingham!). I would love to hear your judgements on a few players I have tracked over the last few years: Gaya (Valencia), Tierney (Celtic), Sessegnon (Fulham).
