Stephy Mavididi ready to make an impact in the Championship after joining Preston on loan

Arsenal striker Stephy Mavididi has joined Championship club Preston North End on a season-long loan.

The England youth international impressed on loan at Charlton Athletic in League One last season before an injury cruelly interrupted his progress but he is now determined to make an impact in the Championship.

Fast, powerful and skillful, Mavididi made a major impact in pre-season for Arsenal U23s as he scored three goals in two games and the prospect had several loan offers to choose from.

He elected to link up with Preston and the 19-year-old, who made the bench for Arsenal in the League Cup last season, will be aiming to impress sufficiently to prove to Arsene Wenger that he deserves a place in the first-team squad.

  1. Looks a good move. Think he stands a great chance of performing well – let’s hope he can stay fit.
    Good luck to the lad.

  2. Could be a wise move, he’s sure to get plenty of game time at Deepdale.
Championship is a good level for him to learn his trade.
One for next season for sure.

    1. Have to admire the lad, who would choose to live in Preston for a year? Deepest depression oops Deepdale Preston.

Still at least he can focus on his football. There certainly won’t be any distraction.

Rip it up Stephy, I honestly think this lad can make it.

      1. very narrow minded view of a decent part of the country. Good luck to Stephy in an area that is still steeped in football tradition and will welcome anyone who puts the effort in, narrow minded bigots excepted.
