Manchester United have “shelved plans” to sign a new left-back because of the form of Luke Shaw, according to the Independent.

That could be good news for Tottenham, who had feared losing Danny Rose to Jose Mourinho’s side.

Rose has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford ever since giving a controversial interview last year in which he appeared to criticise his current employers.

Some Spurs fans would still be happy for Rose to leave the club, while others remain fond of the 27-year-old.

Meanwhile, Luke Shaw’s form has drastically improved for United, which apparently means they are no longer actively pursuing a new left-back.

Rose is currently sidelined with a knee injury – it’s unclear when he will be fit to return.
