Watford manager Marco Silva has admitted some Watford players may eventually move on to bigger things as winger Richarlison continues to be linked with Tottenham.

Spurs face the Hornets at Vicarage Road on Saturday, where Mauricio Pochettino will get the chance to assess Richarlison up close.

The 20-year-old Brazilian has also been linked with Chelsea, and his manager is being realistic when it comes to Watford’s chances of keeping hold of him.

“For us to improve as a club we need to sign players with ambition,” he told The Sun.

“I want everyone in the club to work hard and if they achieve something else in their careers, then that’s normal. I’m realistic. While they are at Watford they need to give 100 per cent.

“To do well in their careers is fantastic for us as a club and also for the player.”

Whether Tottenham decide to pursue Richarlison in January or wait until next summer will probably depend on the team’s form over Christmas.

  1. Can’t answer that Bernard, but from the little I have seen and read about this lad, he is a class act, with skill, pace, and a good eye for goal. Be interesting to see how he performs against us at the weekend!

  2. Nothing about touting players in what he said, he was being a realist – players do move on. It’s one blogger taking something from another source, who inferred a meaning when there wan’t one, and then giving the statement another tweak. No Watford player will leave in January, unless they don’t fit the vision of the owners – not the wishes of journalists, pundits or other team’s fans.
