Tottenham players will share a £2 million bonus payment after qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League, according to The Times.

Mauricio Pochettino side secured safe passage through the group stages after beating European champions Real Madrid 3-1 at Wembley on Wednesday.

The players have been rewarded handsomely as a result. And it could get even better for them financially.

Matt Hughes of The Times claims a total of £7.5m will be paid out if Spurs win the competition.

Hughes also revealed on Twitter that Tottenham are among the most generous clubs when it comes to player bonuses, and that basic contracts are “heavily performance driven.”

Perhaps that’s why Spurs are doing so well in Europe. Or maybe it’s simply because they’re really good, as evidenced here.
