Tottenham have announced the signing of goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga from Southampton for an undisclosed fee.

The Argentine has signed a contract until 2022 and will provide further competition for Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm as third choice goalkeeper.

Gazzaniga, 25, worked under his countryman Mauricio Pochettino when the Spurs manager was in charge at Southampton.

Tottenham have already announced the arrival of centre-back Davinson Sanchez from Ajax. The club is also believed to be working on deals to bring in Estudiantes defender Juan Foyth and PSG right-back Serge Aurier.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to the signing of Gazzaniga.

  1. its great that we’re signing backs and goalkeepers particularly now that champions league will start soon. but we really need a playmaker, a dead ball specialist and a decent left winger. In particular I am concerned about the number of set pieces to goal scored ratio which at 7% in our last season is very poor. remember how many times Bale got us out of really tight CL matches with his brilliance with dead balls.
