Tony Pulis has played down reports suggesting Tottenham defender Kevin Wimmer is nearing a transfer to West Brom.
Spurs are believed to be close to completing a deal for Ajax centre-back Davinson Sanchez that could be worth up to £40 million.
If that happens, Wimmer will fall even further down the pecking order in Tottenham’s defence.
Yesterday reports claimed the Austrian was in advanced talks to join West Brom in a £15m deal.
But Pulis says those stories are wide of the mark.
The Baggies boss said: “Whoever’s telling you we are close, is miles away from that fact. We have a lot of irons in the fire with a lot of targets.”
Pulis also revealed West Brom have rejected an offer from Manchester City from Jonny Evans, but admitted a “very, very good offer” could change things in that regard.
If Evans does join Manchester City, it’s likely that will clear the way for Wimmer to go to West Brom.
