Just a few minutes after being involved in the altercation that saw Newcastle’s Jonjo Shelvey sent off, Dele Alli opened the scoring in Tottenham’s first match of the new Premier League season.
Early in the second half, Shelvey appeared to stamp on the foot of Alli and subsequently saw red. You can watch that happen here.
Spurs took advantage of their man advantage and finally made a breakthrough with half an hour remaining.
