Chelsea are considering a move for Tottenham target Ross Barkley, according to The London Evening Standard.

Spurs are yet to make a signing this summer and have reportedly made Barkley their priority. Arsenal and Manchester United are also believed to be interested.

The midfielder is set to leave Everton after declining a new contract at the end of last season.

Ronald Koeman has confirmed Barkley will almost certainly leave Everton by the end of the transfer window with the player “seeking a new challenge”.

According to The Standard, Antonio Conte is keen to sign one more midfielder this summer, and Chelsea are considering Barkley.

That could be a problem for Tottenham, with Chelsea able to offer much larger wages.

Barkley is currently recovering from groin surgery and could miss the beginning of the season.

Spurs fans will be hopeful the 23-year-old has kept one eye on the development of other English players under the management of Mauricio Pochettino.
