Manchester United are considering a final £60 million bid for Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier, according to The Mirror.

Spurs apparently rejected a bid of under £25 million earlier in the summer. That provoked United to double their initial offer, which led to Tottenham ruling out Dier’s departure.

But United remain keen. The Mirror believes they will come in with a “final huge take it or leave it £60 million offer” for the 23-year-old.

Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on signing a holding midfielder, and Dier is believed to be his number one target after United missed out on Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic.

Matic looked all set to join before Mourinho hijacked Chelsea’s move for Romelu Lukaku, which caused bad blood between the clubs.

Dier is almost certain to stay given the high esteem Mauricio Pochettino holds him in. £60 million will certainly test Spurs’ resolve, but the club won’t want to let another first-teamer leave following Kyle Walker’s exit.

  1. The fact that you continue to propagate such nonsense just supports the media conspiracy to support Man Utd. That club is the Donald Trump of English soccer with all the appalling attributes that implies. They are now second string to Man City and trail in the dust of 3 or 4 other clubs. They and the media cannot get to grips with this new reality.
