The Spain striker has struggled to justify his £50million price tag since his move from Liverpool in 2011.

Torres has been linked with a return to La Liga, but he insisted he wants to impress the new man at Stamford Bridge.

"I want to stay, I want to honour the contract I signed, keep winning titles and I'd like to be the best in the world in my position," he said in an interview with Spanish newspaper AS.

"There is no better place and better conditions than with Mourinho at Chelsea."

He added: "His (Jose's) words motivate me. He’s said he doesn’t want to speak with the players that are in this tournament (Confederations Cup) until it’s over.

"We will meet soon, he will explain what he thinks of me and my situation, and I’ll tell him what I think. His trophies and achievements speak for himself. Not all the best coaches have been footballers.

"If you start to think about the players that have been in his teams, the strikers, they have all had great years."

Torres is not expected to be first choice at Chelsea next season with the club understood to be pursuing strikers Edinson Cavani and Robert Lewandowski.

But, when asked about being linked with a move to Barcelona, the 29-year-old said: "It’s always nice to hear about interest from clubs like Barcelona, but my plan is to stay at Chelsea."
