Man United signing Memphis Depay was really good when he was seven

Video: Dutch star dribbles past everyone in footage from 2000s

A video has appeared on YouTube of new Manchester United signing Memphis Depay being rather good at football at the age of seven.

In the footage, Depay destroys his young opponents with a mixture of blistering pace and ball greed, sometimes even dispossessing teammates in order to run the ball up the other end of the pitch.

Filmed in the early 2000s as Depay starred for local club V.V. Moordrecht, the Dutch forward scores goal after goal, occasionally allowing defenders to tackle him so that other people on his team get a chance to play with the ball.

There's usually one kid at school who is much, much better than everyone else. Judging by this video it would appear that Depay was that child - his talent obvious from a young age and indicative that he will doubtlessly become a star at Old Trafford.

Then again, I know several people who maintain with absolute sincerity that as a youngster, Gary Caldwell was the best player they'd ever seen. Make of that what you will.
