Real Madrid lead race for Man United and Man City target

Carlo Ancelotti will launch a bid to land Manchester United and Manchester City target Arturo Vidal if he gets the Real Madrid job – and it could spell disaster for Arsenal.

The Italian manager last month asked to leave his current job at PSG and is widely expected to replace Jose Mourinho at the Bernabeu.

And according to reports in Spain, Ancelotti has already identified Vidal as a major summer target - and could use Gunners target Gonzalo Higuain to land him.

Dynamic Chilean Vidal has become arguably the best box-to-box midfielder in world football since joining Juventus in 2011 and has attracted interest from both Manchester clubs.

Juve, unsurprisingly, want to hold on to the 26-year-old, who still has three years left on his contract, but it has been suggested that they may sell for £30m.

Now Spanish newspaper El Confidencial reports that Ancelotti will attempt to force through a move for Vidal by offering cash plus Higuain, who is much wanted by the Serie A champions.

The Argentine striker has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer with Arsene Wenger set to spend big to re-establish his side as title contenders.

But he might be forced to look elsewhere for a new frontman, should Ancelotti use Higuain as a makeweight to secure Vidal’s services.
