Warrington's longest-serving player Ben Westwood has signed a one-year contract extension.

Second rower Westwood made his debut in 2002 and recently became just the 10th man to pass 400 games for the club.

The 36-year-old's new deal will run until November 2018, and he said: "It's fantastic news. I am over the moon to be staying.

"It's been going on for a while so I'm glad it's now sorted and I am really looking forward to next year. I've still got some goals I need to achieve at this club; I think you all know the main one is the Grand Final win and I really do believe that this club can do it.

"You can't beat experience in my eyes. I didn't say that when I was younger but now I'm older I think experience plays a big part in the way you play.

"I'd like to think I've got bags of that and can still offer something to the team. I honestly believe I can still do a job at a good standard and for as long as I feel I can do that I'll always put my hand up.
