Jeremy Toljan netted a last-gasp equaliser as Arsenal target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's return for Borussia Dortmund ended in a 2-2 draw at home to Freiburg.

Aubameyang was omitted from last weekend's clash with Hertha Berlin, amid suggestions he was not in the right frame of mind to play.

Arsenal's interest in him remains on the table, but Aubameyang started up front for BVB and was overshadowed by Nils Petersen.

After Shinji Kagawa broke the deadlock early on, Petersen equalised and then fired Freiburg in front in the 68th minute with a screamer from distance. But Toljan came to the rescue to move Dortmund up to fifth in the Bundesliga.

Leaders Bayern Munich produced a storming comeback to overturn a 2-0 deficit and beat Hoffenheim 5-2 at the Allianz Arena.

Hoffenheim loanee Serge Gnabry reminded his parent club of his talent by having a hand in both goals in the opening 12 minutes. Former Arsenal winger Gnabry saw Mark Uth convert the rebound after he missed a penalty and then added a second himself.

But Bayern were level after 25 minutes, Robert Lewandowski and Jerome Boateng netting, before second-half strikes from Kingsley Coman, Arturo Vidal and substitute Sandro Wagner extended their lead at the top to 16 points.

Schalke moved up to second following a 2-0 victory at Stuttgart. Naldo and Amine Harit found the net in the space of five first-half minutes to take their side above Frankfurt and Leverkusen in the table.

RB Leipzig missed the chance to keep up with the chasing pack after drawing 1-1 at home to second-bottom Hamburg.

And Caiuby's late equaliser denied Cologne a fourth-consecutive win as they had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to Augsburg.
