Mame Biram Diouf has penned a new three-year contract at Stoke to keep him at the club until 2020.
The former Manchester United player moved to Stoke from German side Hannover in 2014, but was due to see his previous deal expire next summer.
Diouf, 29, has recently been shifted to a new right-back role under manager Mark Hughes, having been brought to the club as a forward, and Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes believes the player's versatility makes him a valuable asset.
"We signed Mame as a striker and over the last 12 months he has proved his versatility in a number of positions," Scholes said.
"He's an extremely important member of Mark's squad and we're delighted he has committed his future to us."
Diouf has made 99 league and cup appearances and scored 19 goals since arriving at Stoke.
