Alberto Moreno says he never considered leaving Liverpool following the arrival of Andrew Robertson.

The Spain international was expected to depart Anfield over the summer by many after spending last season as second-choice left-back behind James Milner, as Moreno made just two league starts.

Due to Moreno being out of favour with Jurgen Klopp, it was thought bringing in Robertson from Hull City would be the end of the Spaniard's Liverpool career.

When asked if he thought about leaving Liverpool after the arrival of Robertson, he told Marca: "My idea was to stay, to work and to win [back] my place. I saw myself as capable. I spoke to [Jurgen] Klopp, he told me that he could not promise me anything, to work, and that they were going to a sign a No 3 (left-back).

"There I thought that something was wrong. I spoke to my people and they told me to work, to start from scratch and then we'll see. And here we are."
