Darren McFadden could be traded, which could have a positive impact on his fantasy value

The Cowboys are reportedly receiving calls about their running back. We explore the fantasy implications.

The Dallas Cowboys have been hearing from teams around the NFL about the possibility of acquiring Cowboys running back Darren McFadden according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport on Tuesday. Rapoport went on to add that Dallas would rather keep the running back on their roster for now than trade him to another team.

Fantasy Impact: For the 2016 season, McFadden may actually be better off with another team. During his first season with the Cowboys last year, he managed to rush for 1,089 yards and catch 40 passes but he only scored three touchdowns.

With rookie Ezekiel Elliott and newcomer Albert Morris looking to take snaps away from McFadden in 2016, it seems unlikely that McFadden will rush for over 1,000 yards again this season.

Fantasy owners are taking notice of Dallas’ crowded backfield as McFadden is not being selected in most 2016 fantasy drafts. For him to have any sort of fantasy impact this year, his best bet may be to land on another team’s roster.
