Watford are weighing up a loan move for Leicester misfit Islam Slimani in the New Year.
Slimani, 29, was the Foxes’ record signing at £29m when he moved to the King Power 15 months ago, but the Algerian international has been frustrated by his limited opportunities.
Hornets head coach Marco Silva worked with Slimani at Sporting Lisbon and remains keen on a reunion.
Leicester would have to take a sizeable hit on their outlay in any straight cash deal.
Despite his failure to land a regular place in Leicester’s starting XI, Slimani has scored 12 goals in 40 appearances in all competitions.
But he is behind Jamie Vardy, Shinji Okazaki and Kelechi Iheanacho in the Foxes pecking order.
