Queens Park Rangers have announced the signing of Napoli winger Eduardo Vargas on a season-long loan.

The 24-year-old impressed with Chile at the World Cup and scored in the 2-0 win over Spain.

He has been linked with Arsenal in recent times, while Sunderland were considering a loan switch.

However, he has opted to join the R's for the rest of the campaign and will link up with countryman Mauricio Isla at Loftus Road.

Vargas told the club's official website: "I’ve spoken to Mauricio a lot and he said it’s a great, relaxed environment to work in, with a fantastic squad of players.

"The Premier League is the best in the world, the most exciting in the world, and I am looking forward to competing in what is a super-competitive division."

Boss Harry Redknapp added: "We’ve had him watched a lot, over the last year or so, and the feedback has been very positive. I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring him in."

Vargas will now fly to Italy to obtain a visa and is unlikely to feature against Tottenham on Sunday.
