Newcastle are chasing Benfica's Serbian playmaker Filip Djuricic.

Djuricic, 22, is under contract until 2018 but Newcastle hope they can lure him to England for around £7m.

Newcastle have found themselves lacking a creative presence in midfield since the departure of Yohan Cabaye to Paris Saint-Germain in January.

Replacement Luuk de Jong has so far failed to live up to expectations, and it is thought Djuricic could fill the void in the Magpies midfield.

Montpellier playmaker Remy Cabella has also been linked with a move to Newcastle United, though the French Club's president has insisted he is going nowhere.
