Manchester United are one step closer to landing James Rodriguez after AC Milan reportedly pulled out of the race for his signature.

The Real Madrid forward is set to leave the Bernabeu this summer after growing increasingly frustrated with his lack of playing opportunities under Zinedine Zidane.

United are still one of the favourites to snap up Rodriguez but were said to be vying with Milan as they tried to complete the deal.

But Mundo Deportivo now claim that Milan are not prepared to match the asking price given to them from Real.

United are now expected to be battling Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain for his signature.

Alvaro Morata has broken off his honeymoon to try and speed up his move to Manchester United, writes Mirror Football's David Anderson.

Morata has left his new wife, Alice Campello, at their honeymoon location in Ibiza because he is so frustrated that his transfer from Real Madrid is taking so long.

The Spain striker is anxious to be reunited with his former Real boss Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford and has told the Champions League winners he wants to go.

Morata, 24, wants to be a United player before Mourinho recalls his players for the start of pre-season training on July 8.

However Real are in no hurry to sell Morata, even though they are prepared to cash in on him just one year after re-signing him from Juventus.

Ivan Perisic is prepared to reject Inter Milan’s offer of a pay rise to land a move to Manchester United , writes Mirror Football's David Anderson.

Jose Mourinho has identified Perisic as one of his top summer targets and the Croatia winger is keen to team up with him at Old Trafford.

Perisic, who scored 11 goals and had eight assists in Serie A last season, is even ready to snub Inter’s offer of a new contract.

Inter want to table an improved £85,000-a-week deal until 2021 to replace his current £68,000-a-week contract, which has three years left to run.

Perisic, 28, is reluctant to commit his future to the San Siro and feels he could challenge for the Champions League and Premier League with United.
