Liverpool have joined Arsenal in the race for Bordeaux striker Gaetan Laborde.

That is according to French publication Foot Mercato, who say the two clubs will rival each other for the forward this summer.

The 23-year-old netted 13 goals in 42 games in all competitions last term having come through the youth ranks at Bordeaux.

He spent loan spells with Brest 29 and Clermont Foot after breaking into the first team at Bordeaux but established himself with his parent club last season.

How will Mohamed Salah fit in at Liverpool?

Liverpool have finally landed long-time target Mohamed Salah, writes Alex Richards.

Jurgen Klopp and the Anfield hierarchy stepped up their pursuit of the 25-year-old and after paying Roma's £39million asking price, offer Salah a second crack at life in the Premier League

The Egyptian was initially wanted by the Reds in 2014, but he elected to swap Basel for Chelsea instead - only to flop at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho.

After an initial £28million bid was turned down, the Reds upped their offer and eventually got the deal over the line, handing him a five-year, £90,000-a-week contract.

But where exactly will Salah fit, alongside the likes of Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana, Daniel Sturridge and Sadio Mane?

Can Firmino lift the No.9 curse?

He might be more of a mobile menace than an out-and-out centre-forward, but Roberto Firmino seems adamant that he wants to be Liverpool's new No.9, writes Mark Jones.

Following the arrival of Mohamed Salah at Anfield, Brazilian Firmino has agreed to the Egyptian's request for his No. 11 shirt and made the switch to the vacant No. 9. He's also offering to sign any old No. 11 shirts with his name on, with the club replacing them with new ones.

After arriving at Anfield two years ago Firmino has become a firm favourite on the Kop, but he might just be putting that to the test by switching to a shirt which has a less than stellar history in recent years.

Ten players have been Liverpool's No. 9 in the Premier League era, with Fowler donning the shirt during his two separate spells at the club.

Nicolas Anelka, El-Hadji Diouf and Djibril Cisse have also worn it with mixed success (and no success at all in Diouf's case), but it was when Torres left for Chelsea in 2011 that the shirt really began to take on a life of its own.

Mainly one that involved sucking the life out of everyone who wore it.
