Liverpool could move for one of their former players if Philippe Coutinho leaves in January, according to reports.

The Reds fended off interest from Barcelona in the summer and turned down a bid worth an initial £80million.

But the Catalan giants could return in the new year. PSG are also understood to be monitoring the situation.

Should Coutinho leave, the Daily Star reports they will move for AC Milan midfielder Suso, who left Anfield in 2015.

The Spaniard, 23, has a release clause of £35million.

Philippe Coutinho declares himself '100 per cent fit'

Philippe Coutinho has delivered a major boost to Brazil and Liverpool fans with his latest injury update.

The Reds forward says he is "100% fit" for his country's clash with England at Wembley on Tuesday night, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Coutinho is expected to start for Brazil on Tuesday night when they take on England in a showpiece friendly.

The attacker sat out his country's 3-1 win over Japan in Lille on Friday having missed Liverpool's previous three games with a thigh complaint.

But the 25-year-old has confirmed he is now ready for a return to action.

“Unfortunately, I could not play for Liverpool in the past three games because of injury,” said Coutinho, speaking ahead of Tuesday's game against England.

“Now I feel 100% fit, I have recovered and I am in a good shape to be available for the game against England.

“I never want to miss any Brazil games. I am honoured to wear this shirt whenever I can.

“England will be our first European opponent under (coach) Tite. We are looking forward to battling with them.

“They have a lot of quality players who operate in a top league like the Premier League. It will no doubt be a difficult encounter.”

Borussia Dortmund target midfielder Emre Can

Borussia Dortmund have joined the battle to sign Liverpool midfielder Emre Can.

Germany star Can is out of contract at the end of the season and has stalled on signing a new deal at Anfield.

Italian giants Juventus are keen but now face serious competition from Dortmund who are keen to get him on a free next summer.

Ex-Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Can may be tempted by a return to Germany and knows he can get an attractive pay deal as a free agent.

Liverpool have not given up on re-signing Can but the German international’s representatives are demanding that there is a set buy-out clause in any deal.

That has led to the contract stand-off and it has alerted Europe’s top clubs with Liverpool facing losing a first team regular for nothing.
