Liverpool have reportedly made an enquiry over the availability of Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

The Reds are said to be ready to pay a club record fee of up to €60million (£55m) for the French international, according to the Telegraph.

Any Liverpool move for Lemar is not linked with the future of Philippe Coutinho they report, following Barcelona's aggressive pursuit of the Brazilian playmaker.

Manchester United have also been linked with Lemar and Arsene Wenger last week admitted that Arsenal's hopes of landing him were 'dead'.

Monaco have already seen Tiemoue Bakayoko, Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva leave the club this summer, with Kylian Mbappe said to be on the verge of a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Simon Mignolet will start the Reds next Premier League match against Manchester City following his decision to leave the goalkeeper out of 4-0 win over Arsenal.

Loris Karius started against the Gunners, making his first Premier League start since West Ham last December, report the Liverpool Echo .

The German had a quiet afternoon at Anfield in terms of actual saves, but caused a few quick murmurs from the Reds fans when he delayed with the ball at his feet a number of times, with Danny Welbeck almost blocking clearances in both halves.

Jurgen Klopp hailed Liverpool’s demolition of Arsenal as “perfect”.

Klopp was delighted to see his players repeat the scintillating football they produced against Hoffenheim to show they can perform consistently well.

“So far in this season we learn from each game,” he said.

“Watford was not as bad as people said. It’s not easy to win there and we were close to winning there.

“We did better in the Hoffenheim game away and again against Crystal Palace. Yes, we couldn’t score a lot of goals, but we won.
