Arsenal have made a £86million bid for Monaco star Kylian Mbappe, according to L'Equipe.

Manchester City and Real Madrid have already made verbal offers for the teenage French sensation.

But with Arsene Wenger now confirmed as the Gunners boss, he has been given money to rebuild the team which finished fifth in the Premier League – and Mbappe is the priority.

The 18-year-old still has two years left on his contract – and the new French champions are trying to persuade him to stay for at least one more season.

Arsenal all also want Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar, who is also being chased by Tottenham and Juventus while they could also compete with Manchester United for the signature of Alexandre Lacazette.

Mbappe said earlier this week he's 'not afraid' to depart Monaco for pastures new with some of Europe's biggest clubs keeping tabs on his situation.

"Why play less?" he said. "I'll have time to reflect on that and, no, I'm not afraid to leave."

Real are reportedly ready to pay a world-record fee for the striker, who insists the prospect of playing under Zinedine Zidane will not sway his decision.

"I dreamed of Zidane the player, not the coach," Mbappe added.

"Zidane the player made me dream and still makes me dream when I watch videos of him.

"The coach is completely different, he is a great coach who has quickly achieved results and continues to develop."
