Frustrated Liverpool have told Barcelona not to contact them again, after flatly rejecting yet another offer for Philippe Coutinho.

There is growing anger within Anfield at the games now being played by the Catalan club, and the message from Merseyside is simple: the matter is closed.

MirrorSport has revealed the true financial details behind Barca's latest bid , which was leaked for maximum publicity at headline figures of of just under £119m.

In fact, the third attempt to cause unrest and a fraught political situation designed to prise Coutinho from the Premier League constituted only a guaranteed £80m, with the rest in increasingly abstract add-ons.

Those included multiple Champions' League triumphs and the Brazilian winning the Balon D'Or and would be considered largely unachievable by the English outfit.

Despite receiving £200m in cash from PSG for Neymar in one single payment, Barcelona also want to pay for Coutinho over a period of instalments, with the total term of payments understood to be five years.

That has led many observers to suspect reports suggesting the Spanish side suffered financial problems before the Neymar deal was completed have substance, and Barcelona don't have the funds to make up front bids for both Coutinho and their other main summer target, Ousmane Dembele of Dortmund.

Dortmund have turned down a bid of £90m for their striker, and have insisted they will not do business unless any approach reaches their valuation of around £140m…which would leave little room for manoeuvre with the Brazil star.

Liverpool have made clear they are not interested at any price, and their official, direct response to the latest bid has been to demand no further contact.

Realistically though, the Anfield board are wearily aware that no matter how firm their stance, Barca are likely to continue their plotting, and return within the next week with another bid, and Coutinho will continue to press them to accept.

The American owners though, have issued what they described as a "definitive" statement saying the player will not be sold at any price, and they will refuse to go back on that word given to the Reds support.
