Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has insisted his contract stand-off is nothing to do with money.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is ready to quit Arsenal this summer as he has only one year left on his contract and has turned down two new offers.

But Oxlade-Chamberlain is making it clear that he is not holding out for money but is ambitious and is desperate to push himself and realise his full potential.

Arsenal midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain has a lot of respect for Arsene Wenger and the fans but believes his future could lie elsewhere. Liverpool are keen while Chelsea are also watching developments.

Gunners boss Wenger has held face-to-face talks with Oxlade-Chamberlain during the club’s pre-season tour of Australia and China.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has made it clear that he will not sign a new deal and it is not about money but has often been left frustrated at Arsenal because of injuries and not being in the team.

He enjoyed a brilliant run-in at the end of last season and is determined to build on it and make the best of his career and talent.

But he has always enjoyed an excellent relationship with the fans and is respectful towards the club after six years at Arsenal.

It is purely down to furthering his career rather than money and Oxlade-Chamberlain is hoping the fans remain patient and supportive.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has refused to discuss his future in interviews while on tour but knows Wenger wants to keep him.

Wenger made it clear that he will push for a better deal for him but Oxlade-Chamberlain insists it is not about money but development and playing to his best for club and country.

Arsenal are struggling to balance the books and get squad players - like Kieran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson and Mathieu Debuchy - out so they can bring players in.

Arsenal feel they can get a deal for Monaco's Thomas Lemar done but want to clear the decks first.

But if they continue to struggle to sell then it may be they are tempted to sell Oxlade-Chamberlain if he won't sign a new deal.
