Gareth Bale is an injury concern for Wales ahead of next Monday’s World Cup qualifier against Ireland in Cardiff.

The Real Madrid star missed last night’s league game against Espanyol because of a hamstring problem.

Bale was injured in Madrid’s 3-1 Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund last week and has not taken a full part in training since.

Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane does not believe the problem to be too serious but was taking no risks on Sunday night.

But the setback is still a concern for Wales manager Chris Coleman ahead of Friday’s game in Georgia and Monday’s potential showdown with Ireland.

It is unclear if Bale will be able to play two games for the Dragons - Euro 2016 semi-finalists last summer - in the space of four days.

He will be assessed by Wales’ medical team in the next 24 hours.

Ben Woodburn, who made a major impression in Wales' last two qualifiers, trained on Monday and is pushing for a first start for his country.

Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu has also been called up once more, with Chris Coleman confident in the youngster's ability.

"If you are good enough as a young player then why shouldn't you be involved?" said Coleman.

"I have played international football myself. It is great for anybody to be called up by their country and if they are good enough, be they 16,17 or 18, they shouldn't be put in a situation where they feel under pressure, certainly not by us."
