Philippe Coutinho scored a stunning goal but it was not enough to hand Liverpool the win against Newcastle.

The Reds took the lead courtesy of the Brazilian before but Joselu bundled in an equaliser before half time to earn the hosts a draw.

Jurgen Klopp's side have now won just one of their last six games in all competitions and are falling away from the top four after a bright start to the season.

Liverpool

Mignolet 6 For much of the game he was a spectator. Not much playing behind Liverpool’s defence.

Gomez 6 Booked. Took out Atsu with a high challenge which earned him a yellow card.

Matip 5 Kamikaze defending gifted Newcastle an equaliser. Liverpool so weak in defence.

Lovren 5 Dangerous in the opposition box and worrying moments in his own box.

Moreno 6 Given a decent test by Ritchie, he is showing much better defensive discipline.

Henderson 6 Anchored the midfield reasonably well even though his instinct is to go forward.

Wijnaldum 6 Great energy and work rate, should have scored but was good on his return.

Coutinho 8 MotM. Easily the best player on the pitch in the first half, faded but still superb.

Salah 7 If his finishing was good then he’d be world class. Lively but so wasteful.

Mane 5 Missed a big early chance and was well below his usual standard. Subbed early.

Sturridge 6 Had a couple of big chances, despite not scoring he showed some good quality.
