Marcos Rojo has provided Jose Mourinho with a promising injury update as the Red Devils defender continues his steady journey towards full fitness.

The Argentine sustained a serious knee ligament injury during Manchester United's Europa League clash against Anderlecht in April.

Rojo was immediately ruled out for the rest of the season and possibly 2017.

Jose Mourinho indicated that the centre-back wouldn't return until December at the earliest, but Rojo is doing all he can to beat his manager's expectations.

The 27-year-old took to Instagram to show himself riding a gym bike.

It's a positive update from Rojo who attended United's Europa League final in May on crutches.

The defender is also undergoing EMS (electrical muscle stimulator) treatment. Rojo shared a snap of his knee with pads attached. The procedure is designed to help rid of any aches and pains.

Meanwhile, fellow crocked stars Luke Shaw and Ashley Young are nearing their comebacks.

Left back Shaw could return next month while Young is set to feature again in October.
